Big crowd at our women’s self defense class!

A large group of participants from all over the community came down to participate in our annual women’s self defense workshop this Thursday. Our forms team kicked off the event with a brief demonstration. We then discussed crime and prevention strategies and practiced self defense skills with hands on training sessions. A big thanks to all of our participants and helpers!

Our First Fall Food Face Off!

Members from both our adult and children’s programs brought their competitive spirit off the floor and into the kitchen for our first F3O (Fall Food Face Off!). Over 30 dishes were entered into 3 categories consisting of entrees, desserts, and salads. After sampling, scoring and stuffing stomachs the points were tallied and the winners announced. Congratulations to the Kelly/Cousseau family and their Cool and Creamy Lemony Pie (pie is on right in the 1st pic)–they blew away the competition and won not only the dessert category but the entire challenge! Runners up were Sarah T. in the salad category with her killer Guak (guacamole) and Andy Z. with his “Totally Yummy” Pumkin Curry Bisque with Apples. All the food entered was amazing and it was fun to see the entire JHK TKD Seattle community together for the event.

Children’s Halloween Party

Winners of the August 20 Day Challenge

Congratulations Channy, Glenn, Mick and Amanda! They successfully completed 20 days of training at the Seattle Jae H. Kim Taekwondo Institute for the month of August. Prizes were awarded to those completing the 20 days–a choice of a new uniform or a prize from the grab bags! Great job to our winners and to everyone who took on the challenge.

Our first JHK TKD Skills Quest was a blast!

On Saturday, July 28th our members got together for the first running of the Taekwon-Do Skills Quest. Students put their mental, physical and TKD skills to the test in an all out adventure -treasure hunt-scavenger hunt race to see who could finish the quest. Prizes were awarded for our first and second place teams. Fun, awesome, the best time, can’t wait for next year!, were just some of the sentiments shared by teams when they finished the race. We will definitely run this event again and have already started putting together the challenges to rival this year’s quest! Great job to all the teams and helpers!

Biggest Losers! JHK TKD 2012 Weight Loss Team Challenge

Women’s Self Defense Class

On March 29th, the Seattle Branch of the Jae Hun Kim Taekwon-Do Institute held a women’s self defense class. Members, family, friends and guests of the community were in attendance. The class consisted of a presentation on women’s self defense strategies which focused on crime and attack prevention through knowledge and awareness. The presentation was followed by hands on practice of self defense skills which included role play, partner drills and practice with equipment. Great job to all of our participants and a big thanks to the members and staff who helped with the event.
