Women’s Self Defense Class

On March 29th, the Seattle Branch of the Jae Hun Kim Taekwon-Do Institute held a women’s self defense class. Members, family, friends and guests of the community were in attendance. The class consisted of a presentation on women’s self defense strategies which focused on crime and attack prevention through knowledge and awareness. The presentation was followed by hands on practice of self defense skills which included role play, partner drills and practice with equipment. Great job to all of our participants and a big thanks to the members and staff who helped with the event.

Bully Busting Seminar for Kids!

On March 19th, the Seattle Branch held a bully busting seminar/open house for our children and junior members, their friends and parents. We had a great turnout. We discussed the impact of bullying on the community (who’s affected, where it happens, who can help). Thinking about the role that martial arts can have in preventing bullying, we covered strategies and tactics for handling bullies in a non-violent, assertive way. After the discussion, we broke into small groups and practiced the bully handling skills. A big thanks goes out to all the participants and helpers!

20 Days of Taekwon-Do Winners!

Congratulations Cillian and Mick–the winners of the 20 days of TKD Challenge. Mick and Cillian trained at the Seattle Branch every day possible during the month of January to jointly win the challenge. Also, congratulations to all the 20 Day Challenge Participants and to those who attended 20 days in January.

Mr. Kim Conducts Korea Taekwondo Association Seminar

The Korea Taekwondo Association (KTA) asked Mr. Kim to conduct a seminar for 100 school owners in Korea. The seminar was held on September 3rd, 2011 at the Korea National Sports University. The seminar facility could only hold 100 people, but 124 school
owners crammed into the room, many of whom had to stand during the seminar. It is yet another indication of the respect Mr. Kim has in the Taekwon-do communities around the world.
