Learn about our Children's Classes
Tae Kwon Do offers many benefits for kids and the Jae H. Kim Tae Kwon Do Institute believes that learning should be a positive experience.
We offer three age groups for our kid’s classes
Our children’s program maintains a fun and positive environment for your child while introducing them to the full Tae Kwon Do curriculum including the more formal aspects such as discipline, self-control, and respect. Your child will have the opportunity to earn belts for each level as they progress through Tae Kwon Do. Your child will learn concentration and focusing skills through fun and organized activities that are goal oriented and challenging.
Our juniors’ program teaches the complete curriculum of Tae Kwon Do including the philosophy and principles of the martial art. We work with the juniors on their physical and social development, which helps them develop emotionally and cognitively. Goal setting, perseverance, self-defense techniques, self-control, and self-discipline are some of the many skills that your child will gain through our juniors’ program.
Children and Junior Program Features
We start all new students with introductory private lessons so that your child can learn at his/her own pace before jumping into the classes.
All of our instructors are trained personally by Grand Master Jae Hun Kim. Many of them earn a college degree in Taekwon-do before going through our rigorous instructor training program. The instructors at our institute have, on average, more than 25 years of Taekwon-do experience.
We have designed the children’s classes to make them more interesting for kids, but we have not changed any of the actual content. So, your child will be learning the real Taekwon-do at our school. As such, your child will earn a Black Belt certificate from the Kukkiwon World Headquarters in Korea when he/she becomes a Black Belt at our school.
We have schools in the US and at locations across the Pacific, so your child will have opportunities to meet children visiting from those countries. You may even elect to have your child visit one of our overseas schools at some point. All such activities will help your child to better understand different cultures and allow him/her to be more effective in cross cultural environments in the future.
Coordination development, physical fitness, self discipline, respect for parents and teachers, self control, and leadership development are mentioned by parents as some of the key benefits your child may derive from learning Taekwon-do. Millions of people around the world benefit from practicing this exciting art. We would like to invite your child to join this global community.
My son joined the school when it first opened and earned his black belt. He learned so much along the way: increased confidence, perseverance, self control, and so much more, but what was important to me, was that he learned these lessons from instructors that I respect and in a true community environment. My daughter is now taking lessons and she loves it. I can see the it helping her in many ways, the biggest being her self-esteem. I truly could go on and on about the Jae Hun Kim Institute, but I’ll just say come by and watch a class, talk to instructors and parents, you’ll see for yourself what a fabulous school it is.
Gifted teaching in a rigorous program has helped my gentle 9-year-old to persevere through many challenges, and gain a life-skill as important as self-defense. Now, when Leyla faces an obstacle in other parts of her life, she gains confidence by reminding herself how many hurdles she’s overcome in TKD. It hasn’t always been easy, but the step-by-step teaching style has enabled my child to succeed, both mentally and physically.
My son said he was proudest of the latest belt rank he earned
because, he exclaimed, “I worked soooo hard!” At JH Kim my son learns
valuable skills, to be sure, but more importantly, he gains self
confidence and the pride that comes from determination and hard work.
Both our children started Taekwondo about 5 years ago when our daughter was five years old and our son was eight. The training, guidance and leadership received at the Jae Hun Kim Taekwon-Do Institute has really helped both our children with focus, pride, and confidence. Everyone is very supportive and patient. The kids really have a lot of fun. We truly are thankful to Ms. Perrin and all of the instructors.
When our daughter insisted, at age 4, that she wanted to do tae kwon do, we were skeptical that her interest would last. But Ms. Perrin has designed a program that works for preschoolers on up, and in her year of study, our daughter has learned discipline, self-control and the value of practicing to achieve her goals. She plans to continue through black belt!
My son, Lijah, loves learning new things, is really fueled by the positively reinforcing ranking system and being given opportunities to help teach others the skills he is learning. I have enjoyed watching his confidence grow so much!
- While I was watched the last promotion test I thought, wow, the kids have really changed — for the better. They have become more patient, and responsible. I want to thank the teachers for doing such a great job. My son Sasha loves it!
I am continually impressed with Ms. Perrin’s Taekwondo teaching style. She has struck the perfect balance between discipline and fun which has completely hooked my 7 year old daughter, Hara.
Our school is committed to teaching the complete system of Taekwon-do. We offer specialized classes, an expansive class schedule and balanced training!
Children & Junior Classes
We offer separate classes for kids at the Jae H. Kim Tae Kwon Do Institute. Our kid’s classes build strength, agility, and fitness levels. They also develop character and help with goal setting—not to mention they are FUN!
Tiny Tot Classes
Our Tiny Tot’s program is aimed at introducing your child to Tae Kwon Do. During a 45-minute class, students gain motor skill development and a sense of confidence within our playful and positive class environment.
